DEE VASQUEZ

Dee Vasquez is a producer at Global Studios who killed Jack Hammer in self defense. Years prior, Jack Hammer accidentally killed fellow actor, Manuel during filming. Its implied Dee had a close relationship to Manuel based on her reaction to his death. And also that after, Dee blackmails Jack Hammer as a sort of revenge. Which also then leads to Jack attempting to retaliate by killing her. But Dee shoves him into a sharp fence, which impales him. (Which is also how Manuel died). Dee then frames one of her actors, Will Powers, for the murder. Although not much is known about Dees life, its implied she has mafia ties as she uses them to intimidate Will Powers defense lawyer, Phoenix Wright. But is stopped by Dick Gumshoe before anything can happen.

Dee only appers in the third case of the first game. She also appears in the anime, but does not appear in the pachinko or live action movie. Below are official art and things shes in!

Originally Dee was going to be male, but was changed when they realized all of the culprits were turning out to be men. Dee is one of the few characters who uses the wrong text bleeps. Males use deeper text bleeps while females use higher text bleeps. This could be because Dee has a raspy voice due to smoking, but it was changed in future versions of the game such as the Trilogy HD port. Another character, Blaise Debeste also shares this. In a flashback scene shown in Turnabout Goodbyes, the speaker has a higher pitched voice. Its later revealed in Gyakuten Kenji 2 he was this person.

Dee really is one of the characters I wish we knew more about, theres so many questions about her! What was her relationship with Manuel? Why does she have mafia ties? Why is she a producer of all things? I also have such mixed feelings on her. Technically, she acted in self defense. But she decided to use her position of power to frame Will Powers. Ugh it makes me think about her character sm
